the painting that is friendship

Post university life is different.  Especially if you are not returning back to your hometown.  New place, new city, now job, new stage of life.  All these things have been pretty exciting for me, but one thing that is new that comes with a lot of effort is new friends.  Friendships take time.  It takes time to invest, to spend together, to have the ups and downs together, to serve together... so on and so forth.  I'm very grateful and thankful for the community that God's brought me to, because the people there are great, but in the place of my impatience, I often want to be in the place of deep friendships right away.  Many times in life, it's really about the journey that paints out the destination. The journey adds colors, perspectives and details.  Without the journey, all I would have is an empty canvas with perhaps a few dabs of paint here and there.  I guess in modern times, they call it abstract art.  But, I don't want abstract friendships, so I guess i need to take the time to add the colors, shapes, details, perspectives, contours and all the beautiful aspects that go into the painting that is friendship.

  1. abstract art is more like a very long journey with very little to show for it in the end. ;)
